Report #1

Impoverished and Marginalised in Assam

A study into the exclusion of those at risk of statelessness in COVID-19 responses and social security provisions

January 2021

This report presents the findings of the Right to Nationality Network’s investigation into the impact of the coronavirus on the lives of those who have been rendered, or are in the process of being rendered, stateless in Assam. Through qualitative data collection across seven districts, we attempted to uncover the adversities and hardships faced by the affected population and identify the extent to which they were able to access government COVID-19 response, welfare and emergency relief provided by the state.

The report was released during our inaugural webinar on 6 February 2020.
